About

I am a senior software engineer at Mercado Libre, where I work on the Shopping Cart team. My work focuses on backend development, mainly in Java and Spring, in a full-cycle model in which the team takes each delivery from solution design through to operation in production.

Over the past few years, I have taken part in modernizing the cart's architecture in three stages: migrating the backend to a new platform shared across all business areas, adopting native rendering on the frontend, and splitting the infrastructure by country. I led the first of these, the backend migration, work that contributed directly to my promotion to senior engineer.

I joined Mercado Libre in 2022 on the Growth team at Mercado Pago, the company's fintech arm, where I took part in migrating a monolithic system to microservices. Before that, I worked as a Python developer at Naia Capital and as a data science intern at ETAPA.

  • Technical lead for the migration of the Shopping Cart backend to a new platform shared across business areas, started while still a Software Engineer.

  • Developed features and stability improvements for the core Shopping Cart services, a system handling over 1 million requests per minute.
  • Built customer reactivation and purchase-incentive features that increased company and team GMV (figures confidential).
  • Took part in a reliability overhaul of the cart, focused on availability, response time and error handling.

  • Took part in migrating a monolithic system to microservices, including optimizing the most critical endpoint with caching, parallel calls and data-model changes, which reduced its average response time from 350 ms to 20 ms.
  • Helped prepare the service to handle three times the requests per minute through load testing, configuration tuning, autoscaling and resilience patterns, which allowed the feature to expand to other areas of the app.
  • Took part in building a backoffice system that automated previously manual tasks and gave product and business teams autonomy.
